Joan Benny tells a couple of cute stories about growing up with her father. On Sunday mornings, they would always go out for a drive and breakfast before Jack went to work. When they got in the car, Jack would push the starter button or probably the choke button and the car would not start. After trying different buttons with no luck, he would turn to Joan and say, "It won't start without a kiss, Joanie." Whereupon Joanie would kiss her father on the cheek and he would "miraculously" find the right button to start the car. The other story has to do with her listening to the transcriptions of the radio show when they were sent over by the network. This would be before the show actually went on the air. She would play the record on the record player in the library, listening to the entire program. At the end of the show, Jack would say "Goodnight everybody....and goodnight, Joanie." Years later, when she was in college, she was asked by a fellow student if she was indeed Jack Benny's daughter. When she replied she was, the student said, "Now I know who Joanie was. I always heard your dad say "Good night Joan" at the end of each show.
